With over 300 students from over 31 different nationalities, QSI Chengdu is committed to providing a safe and inclusive learning environment to all our students. Admission is open to students ages 2 to 18 who are invested in learning in English language classrooms and who adhere to school’s Student Code of Conduct.
QSI Chengdu follows the Mastery Learning model of education. Students learn at a pace which allows them to develop a high level of proficiency (knowledge, skills, and competencies) in the curriculum that they are studying. This approach promotes academic rigor and academic success.
Mastery Learning at QSI Chengdu is facilitated by a group of passionate and dedicated educators. Faculty members are certified and licensed in the core subjects that they teach, and many teachers hold advance degrees in education.
Our modern facilities include two school buildings connected by a private walkway. These include office spaces, classrooms, multi-purpose rooms, two libraries, information technology (IT) laboratories, gymnasium, and makerspace, three science laboratories, three music rooms, and two cafeterias. The campus includes playground areas as well as sport courts and a soccer field.
The health and safety of our campus community is our main priority. QSI Chengdu has a 24-hour security presence and is closed to public access. Our health clinic is staffed by a full time medical professional and the school follows effective COVID-19 protocols and guidelines.
QSI Chengdu offers a variety of personalized services in order to enhance student growth and development including counseling, learning support and intensive English classes. The cafeteria and snack bars offer food throughout the day and the school provides convenient busing options for families.
Extracurricular and enrichment programs are an integral part of the student life experience at QSI Chengdu. The focus of the program is to provide opportunities for student engagement; nurture leadership skills, increase teamwork and promote positive group dynamics.
QSI Chengdu is proud to celebrate the diversity of our campus community. With with support of our Parent Support Group - the school hosts events throughout the year including Chinese New Year, International Day, Fall Festival, Winter Celebration, and more.
Our Preschool and Elementary program is for students ages 2 through 10-11. Class sizes are small with between 6 and 10 students in Pre-K classes and between 10 and 14 students in Kindergarten and Elementary classes. Each class has two dedicated educators – a lead teacher and an assistant. Music, Art, Languages Other than English, Intensive English, Technology, and Physical Education courses are taught by specialist.

Our Secondary School consists of students who have successful completed Middle School are now on one of two diploma tracks: Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate degree programs. Class sizes are small with between 12 and 16 students in each class and subjects are taught by specialist in that content area.
While applications are accepted throughout the year, we typically have limited space for new students at the beginning of each school year. If a class becomes oversubscribed, you may be placed on a wait list until a seat becomes available or a new class is opened. Families are encouraged to begin the enrollment process as soon as possible.
Applications are approved within 1-3 working days. If there are extenuating circumstances or if the child will require learning support, then additional time may be needed to insure we can provide the accommodations.
English fluency is not required for all grade levels. We accept students through Middle School (13yo class) and provide Intensive English classes to support fluency in English. Secondary (high school) students will need to be fluent, or nearly so, to earn credits toward graduation. We can assess students prior to enrollment to guarantee the proper support.
QSI Chengdu is accredited by Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges (MSA). A student may earn a general diploma, academic diploma, or honors diploma, all of which are recognized worldwide for university admission. In addition, students enrolled in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) may earn an IB diploma, in addition to the QSI diploma.
We have a learning support coordinator that assists us with planning for students with learning differences. A student may have a personal assistant, a modified curriculum, or accommodations (extended test times, support for some classes, testing changes) depending on the evaluations submitted. After enrollment, you will get specific details on the lunch program. We use a card system; the parent can add funds, which are deducted when the student purchases lunch. The cost in 25-30RMB per day, depending on the age of the child. Students have the option of bringing a home lunch and reheating (with assistance) in a microwave in the cafeteria.
Details on the bus service are provided during the enrollment process, the fees can be paid per term along with tuition. Several bus routes are available for your convenience.
The school day begins at 8:00am and ends at 3:30pm. Preschool students have classes (including art, music and PE) each morning, along with two outdoor recess periods (weather permitting). These students nap in the afternoon. Elementary students have their core classes each day, recess twice per day, and specialist classes twice per week. Middle and Secondary students have a short break in the morning and a longer break after lunch. Their schedules are dependent on their academic choices. QSI Chengdu offers financial scholarships to our families in need. The scholarship process begins each March with an application. The Advisory Board reviews requests and results are shared in April for the following school year.
